General Accountant

ADDISON, TX

Position Summary:

The General Accountant position performs a range of accounting duties to support the accuracy and

integrity of the company’s financial records within the General Accounting department. These roles

progress in scope and complexity from entry-level to advanced technical and leadership support.

Accountants are responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly & quarterly accruals, reconciling

accounts, assisting with monthly & quarterly close, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and company

policies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Perform timely and accurate monthly accounting functions, including data-entry, journal

entries, invoice coding and account reconciliations.

- Assist in accounts payable and receivable processing as needed.

- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.

- Review balance sheet reconciliation, identify and analyze errors, and provide feedback for

corrections, post adjustments as needed.

- Reconcile bank statements and record cash transactions in the general ledger monthly.

- Participate in updating policies and process improvements related to accounting activities.

- Assist Assistant Controller with recording financial accounting records within the guidelines of

GAAP and company policies.

- Support the accounting team with audits, variance analysis, and special projects.

- Perform ad hoc report as assigned, research variance analysis and special projects.

- Assist with the annual audit, tax returns, and other compliance tasks.

- Communicate regularly with Assistant Controller.

- Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy.


Qualifications:

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

- 0-5 year of relevant experience (internship experience acceptable)

Preferred:

- Experience in upstream oil and gas accounting.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with ERP system

preferred)

- Full-time, exempt position based at corporate headquarters.

- Standard office environment with minimal physical demands.

- May require extended hours during closing cycles, audits, or special projects.

- Occasional travel to field offices or operational sites may be required.

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at all times in designated areas.
