Field Operations Engineer (FOE)
Position Summary:
The Field Operations Engineer provides technical expertise and engineering support to optimize production, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations across upstream oil and gas assets. This role collaborates with field personnel, engineering teams, and management to troubleshoot operational issues, implement production improvement initiatives, and oversee field development activities. The position requires strong analytical skills, field experience, and the ability to work in dynamic and often remote environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- -Serve as the primary engineering liaison between field operations and corporate engineering teams, ensuring alignment on production goals and operational standards.
- -Monitor and analyze daily production data to identify trends, diagnose inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
- -Design, implement, and oversee artificial life installations, well interventions, and equipment upgrades to maximize well performance.
- -Provide technical guidance for well start-ups, workovers, and re-completions in coordination with internal teams.
- -Develop and maintain operating procedures and best practices for field activities, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements and company policies.
- -Evaluate and recommend chemical treatment programs, flow assurance measures, and corrosion mitigation strategies.
- -Oversee installation, calibration, and maintenance of production measurement and SCADA systems to ensure data integrity.
- -Prepare and review AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) and ensure cost control for field projects.
- -Collaborate with supply chain and vendors to procure equipment and materials for field operations.
- -Assist in root cause analysis for equipment failures, production downtime, and safety incidents.
- -Train and mentor field personnel on operational best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.
- -Provide regular progress reports and technical documentation for management review.
Qualifications:Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline required.
- 0-3 years of engineering experience in upstream oil and gas operations (production, completions, or field optimization preferred); internship experience acceptable
- Knowledge of artificial lift systems, surface facilities, and oilfield chemical applications.
- Proficiency in production optimization tools and software (e.g., RodStar, XSPOC, WellView).
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, measurement standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
Preferred:
- Strong willingness to work in field environments and learn hands-on processes.
- H2S Awareness, OSHA 10, and other industry-specific training.

Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated equipment as needed.
- Tolerance to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
- Extended work hours and rotating on-call availability as required.
Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based with regular visits to oil and gas well sites, compressor stations, and production facilities.
- Exposure to loud noise, rotating equipment, pressurized systems, chemicals, and hydrocarbons.
- Periodic office work for reporting and planning activities.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at all times in designated areas
